"...standing on the shoulders of giants"

My wife Julie and I met while teaching in South Korea and were married in 2008 in San Diego. After the wedding we returned for two more years of teaching at the international school. It was not long before our family grew to three with the addition of our globe-trotting golden lab, Sierra. «Fast Forward» Shortly after deciding it was our last year in Korea and committing to come teach in Mali we found out we were pregnant! Caleb Sama O'Neill was born on Christmas Day, 2010 and has spent all his time since then making our lives way better and busier. "Sama" is a word in the local language, Bambara, that means "gift" - especially one you bring back with you when you go on a journey. So we thought the name was especially appropriate for the circumstances.

Julie and I love to travel, and we have spent the last six years exploring some pretty incredible places. Among the Passport stamps are China, Hong Kong, the Philippines, Cambodia, Vietnam, Thailand, Bali, India, South Africa, Namibia, Botswana, Zambia, Zimbabwe, and Mali. Favorite vacation destinations: Thailand and Bali. Maybe one day we'll explore America.

We also both love photography and have had the opportunity to visit plenty of photo-worthy places. Below are two of my favorite shots from my travels.

I also enjoy camping, hiking, rock climbing, and snowboarding - pretty much anything that gets me outdoors. I have competed in two Olympic-length triathlons, and I look forward to training for my next.
